Profile
Assistant Professor in the field of Computer Science & Engineering
Akshay Pandey earned his Ph.D. from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee (IIT Roorkee). He is currently engaged in research at the intersection of Web-based Geographic Information Systems (Web-GIS) and Artificial Intelligence (AI). He possesses strong expertise in the acquisition, processing, and management of geospatial data, along with hands-on experience in both hardware assembly and software integration of UAV systems. His recent work includes analyzing vegetation health indices (NDVI) over time using Google Earth Engine, and developing deep learning-based convolutional neural network (CNN) models for multi-crop classification and plant disease detection using RGB imagery. His strengths lie in programming with Python, C++, and Java, and in successfully executing multidisciplinary research projects.
My research interests lie at the intersection of Web-based GIS and Artificial Intelligence, with a particular focus on UAV-based remote sensing and geospatial image analysis. I am keenly interested in the acquisition, processing, and visualization of geospatial data for real-world applications such as precision agriculture and sustainable farming. I explore the integration of deep learning techniques for crop classification and plant health monitoring using high-resolution UAV imagery. Additionally, I am passionate about developing open-source GIS tools, web mapping platforms, and agricultural information systems to support data-driven decision-making. My work also involves spatio-temporal analysis using platforms like Google Earth Engine, and I maintain a strong interest in database management and web development for geospatial applications.
